Inside PPWR: End of Line Transit Packaging
Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is the EU’s new legal framework for all packaging placed on the European market. It aims to reduce packaging waste, increase recyclability, and create harmonised rules across all 27 member states.
This legislation entered into force on 12th February 2025, and elements of the legislation will come into force from 12th August 2026, with further items to come throughout 2027 to 2030. This legislation will replace the old Packaging Waste Directive and looks to set requirements across the full lifecycle of packaging, from design to disposal.
