Signode reiterates its commitment towards Zero Waste

Signode has taken up multiple "Towards Zero" initiatives in its manufacturing locations to help us improve on Safety, Sustainability & Operational Excellence.

The “Towards Zero” idea originated during one of our brainstorming sessions on SQDCM to define our future strategy for operations and started our discussions. With this, we aim at “Zero” as a target for all elements of SQDCM in our continuous improvement journey. This includes:
  • Safety – Zero Harm (Focus on Lead Indicators)
  • Sustainability – Zero Prime Materials (Use Recycled, Energy Efficiency), Zero Waste (Reuse Inhouse)
  • Quality – Zero Defects (6S & Continuous Improvement)
  • Delivery – Zero Defaults (100% OTIF)
  • Cost – Zero Wastages in Operation, Zero Line Stoppages
  • Morale – Zero Attrition (Talent Management & Employee Engagement)

One of our key Sustainability Goal is Zero Waste. We have a dream to avoid any waste being sold/disposed out from any of our plants and recycle/reuse it inhouse for our own requirements. We have successfully installed a plastic recycling unit of 60 MT/Month capacity within our Paper & Plastic manufacturing plant in Silvassa (India). Here, we will not only recycle waste from this plant but also bring in the plastic wastages from other Signode plants for recycling.

This indeed is a significant step in towards achieving our “Towards Zero” goals.
