GCU-8 Strapping System Reduces Costs Associated
with Corrugated Packaging
GLENVIEW, ILLINOIS — Designed to lower the
overall packaging costs associated with corrugated packaging, Signode
Packaging Systems introduces the innovative GCU-8 strapping system.
Engineered with a number of cost and timesaving features to facilitate
easier maintenance and operation, the GCU-8 reduces maintenance
time to maximize productivity.
The GCU-8 features an innovative modular design
with separate tensioning and sealing heads. The strapping heads
are constructed with fewer moving parts and more durable wear parts,
making them far more cost efficient to maintain than other strapping
heads. A simple design using no belts, pulleys or adjustments ensures
minimal maintenance. Weighing less than 35 lbs each, the heads
are easy to access and remove without requiring special tools or
handling equipment. When utilizing a spare head during routine
maintenance, downtime can be limited to a matter of minutes.
All-electric operation provides accurate compression
levels and faster throughput rates to ensure superior package performance
with maximum efficiency. The GCU-8 is also capable of infinite
compression levels to accommodate varying product and load configurations.
Other operation and maintenance features include
pop-out conveyor rollers for easy cleaning, and a platen latch
to make maintenance procedures underneath the platen easier. Waist
high strap loading provides for quick and easy set-up. A control
panel built directly onto the machine reduces installation time
and creates a more organized workspace.
