GLENVIEW, ILLINOIS — Signode Packaging Systems introduces the LBX-6520-S Automatic Squaring System designed to create uniform square bundles, the system has a production capacity of up to 26 bundles per minute to keep up with the increasing production demands of corrugated lines.
Built with integrated side squaring and bundle stops, the LBX-6520-S features adjustable conveyor speed and simple setup, making it easy to integrate into any production line. The LBX-6520-S has a low maintenance design and is engineered with features to facilitate easier operation. These features include a heavy-duty knurled roller conveyor, standard PLC and easy height adjustment.

SignodeSmart Measures Unitizer Performance versus Capability in Real-time

SignodeSmart, easily integrated into the unitizer’s programmable logic controller (PLC), provides real-time data reports at the unitizer and remotely, allowing plants to immediately identify improvement opportunities to increase production.
SignodeSmart real–time information allows production and maintenance personnel to create action plans to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime through the strapping zone. Overall, SignodeSmart generates 27 interactive reports with details on production information such as safety infractions, available time, idle time, utilized time and downtime. These reports include detailed performance reports, downtime reports, unit load details and preventative maintenance tasks. Operators can view the average cycle time, average discharge time, efficiency levels and the amount of strap that has been utilized. Reports can be accessed either on-demand or sent at predefined intervals, allowing plant management to baseline the unitizing zone and set targets for production, shipping and maintenance.

GCU SmartFlex Strapping System Increases Efficiency for Corrugated Operations

GLENVIEW, ILLINOIS — Designed to lower the overall packaging costs associated with corrugated packaging, Signode Packaging Systems introduces the innovative GCU SmartFlex Corrugated Compression Strapping System. Engineered with a number of cost and timesaving features to facilitate easier maintenance and operation, the GCU SmartFlex reduces maintenance time to maximize productivity.
GCU SmartFlex’s innovative head spacing with five possible positions provides for variable strap placement options and minimizes the need for double stroking. The result is improved flexibility and faster throughput of up to 200 plus loads per hour. Head positions are available at 8", 16", 24", 32", 40" and 48".
The GCU SmartFlex features a modular design with separate tensioning and sealing heads. The strapping heads are constructed with fewer moving parts and more durable wear parts, making them far more cost efficient to maintain than other strapping heads. A simple design using no belts, pulleys or adjustments ensures minimal maintenance. The GCU SmartFlex comes standard with Signode’s innovative Smart dispensers. Smart dispensers are constructed with the feeding module mounted directly to the framework, enabling simple one-step strap loading and feeding. At up to 50 straps per minute, the LBX-6520 delivers higher strapping speeds and lower maintenance operation than any other corrugated bundler available today.
The LBX-6520 features 40% fewer parts and more standard features than previous models. With no belts, clutches or pulleys, the LBX-6520’s self-lubricating, adjustment free design provides long-term durability and maintenance-free operation.
For maximum uptime, the LBX-6520 comes standard with jamless technology. While other machines require operator intervention to remove problematic strap, the LBX-6520's automatic cut-off and refeed feature simply ejects the strap and cycles a new strap, resulting in less operator involvement and improved uptime.
Easy to integrate into any production line, the LBX-6520 has a variable speed reversible conveyor for easy set-up and operation. An “EZ Height” adjustable leg kit requires only an Allen and socket wrench for adjusting, and no forklift is required.
Productivity is further enhanced with other standard, timesaving features. Coil Lifter Eliminates the Manual Lifting of Strap Coils

GLENVIEW, ILLINOIS — Signode Packaging Systems has introduced a new strap coil lifter designed to load steel and plastic strap coils onto dispensers, enabling coils to be transported through workspaces, and eliminating dispenser damage due to improper loading techniques. Capable of lifting steel coils weighing up to 125 lbs and plastic coils weighing up to 55 lbs; the Coil Lifter can accommodate both vertical and horizontal lifting applications and is available in a stationary or portable model.
The portable Coil Lifter is built with a steel cage and toe guard to help protect operators from possible injury during the lifting and transporting of strap coils. Easy to navigate, the portable coil lifter is ideal for a variety of applications and production facilities.
The stationary coil lifter is designed for confined workspaces or static procedures. It can be mounted to the floor and is capable of 360 degree rotation within a 4′ diameter. The stationary model is supplied with a steel mounting post and all the accompanying hardware for fastening to the floor.
Both the portable and stationary models are easy to use, and come equipped with a vertical and horizontal lifting apparatus. When used properly, the Coil Lifter can help reduce the number of injuries that could be sustained during the lifting and moving of strap coils.
